Students and parents may check out materials starting the first day of school through the beginning of June. Kindergartners take out books at the end of October. Any child grades 1- 5 may come to the Library Media Center and return and check-out a book any day from 8:55 – 12:30 as long as they do not interrupt instruction. They need to check-out with Miss Foster.
All students are allowed to have out three books at a time. They are due back in four school days (check the due date slip in the back of the book). Students may have up to 2 overdue books and still get a third if the overdues are less than two weeks overdue. We will hold a book for a student overnight only (See RESERVES & HOLDS under GENERAL INFORMATION for more information on holds.) If students are working on special projects we allow them to have more books.
Students have been trained to bring all damaged books to the librarian prior to check out. All students are required to “browse” their books, before check out, for rips, tears, writing or other damage. They are also required to check to see if they can read the book (Five Finger Rule). If a child returns a damaged book, that can not be repaired, they are required to to pay for a new one.
